Inundation simulation/Flood risk assessment image Flood control has a long history, which several paradigm shifts such as the technological innovation in the modern society, which made fights against flooding rare. However, we are about to enter the flood-fighting era again in a changing climate and society. In the modern society where floods are not seen in a daily life, it is particularly important to quantify and visualize flood risk through statistical analysis of extreme weather and flood-inundation modelling. In this theme, I address this issue through extreme value theory combined with numerical simulations of flood-inundation as well as developing fast flood computing to deal with numerous extreme event scenarios.
