The OHDIS-kwmss model is a distributed hydrological model developed at Kyoto University and it has been well studied and successfully applied for many basins in Japan. The model is based on the one dimensional kinematic wave theory.

OHDIS-PreTOP

-(an extention for the OHDIS-kwmss model) this was developed by me, 2007

OHDIS-kwmss model was initially developed to utilize the available Japanese river network data and topographical information. Mainly due to following two reasons, the present model is not possible to apply for international basins
  1. Detail channel network information is not available for many countries in the world specially in developing countries where the water related problems hindered their development.
  2. Japanese topographical data format is different from the globally available topographical data format.
Therefore, OHDIS-PreTOP, was developed to extend the applicability of the OHDIS-kwmss model for international basins. OHDIS-PreTOP is capable to derive topography and channel network information required for the OHDIS-kwmss model by using globally available DEMs.
